Do you feel Alone

18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,
    on those who hope in his steadfast love,
19 that he may deliver their soul from death
    and keep them alive in famine.

20 Our soul waits for the Lord;
    he is our help and our shield. (Psalm 33:18-20 ESV)

Do we really trust in God? To the point where we are focused on doing His will and not worried about what will happen in this life. I would say no, we really do not. If we did there would be far less anxiety in this world.

But I think that is because we have lost our fear of the Lord. We may not actually witness things we think are orchestrated by God, so our fear of Him and our trust wanes. We pray to Him, but we do not really expect an answer. We are just going through the motions. Our soul does not wait upon God, and we do not necessarily see Him as our hope or our shield.

In essence, we feel alone.

No, God is not going to come down and provide a pillar of fire for us to follow. God no longer works like He did in the Old Testament, because He sent His son who died for us and provides the Holy Spirit to guide us. But we must work to stay in touch with that which God gave us internally so that we might begin to feel His presence and follow His guidance.

We are not alone. And in this we can learn to trust.
