Fairness

1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body[a] and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. (Ephesians 2:1-3 ESV)

There is this darkness at work in us that, unfortunately, we are born with. It entered into every persons life with Adam and it can only be atoned of through Christ. There is no other way. Even our best life is but dirty rags in God’s eyes.

But how can that be, you ask? How can a loving God condemn people to Hell?

This may be one of the most difficult things we as Christians have to tackle when telling others about a loving God. Due to humans natural view of fairness it can be difficult to come to terms with love and sin as God sees it.

We have to look at the basal nature of mankind. Even the best of us gets angry, has lustful thoughts, envies, covets and the list goes on and on. We all, each of us, have some secret sin. And trying to sweep that under the rug as “not that bad” simply shows us another of our sins, which is hubris.

Only though the atoning blood of Christ and His salvation can we see the right side of heaven. We need to have a personal relationship with Christ, through the Spirit which lives within us. This is our only pathway to God.
