15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”[a]
16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?”[b]17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. (Romans 10:15-17 ESV)
We can fool ourselves into thinking, spreading the gospel is for missionaries and clergy, but before any formally existed regular men were sent. I do not want to downplay the value of a good ministerial eduction. For those who go through many years of training will understand how to convey the gospel in pretty much any situation.
But God equips regular men and women to spread the gospel as well. In fact, the church’s most important role is equipping those who will not get a full degree to have the tools to speak of Christ and spread His Good News.
Furthermore, the Bible is an instruction book geared for just this type of itinerant ministry. We have been equipped with the Word so that we may understand the message God has for all mankind.
The problem is that we may not see ourselves as ministers. We may say, “it makes me uncomfortable”, or “I don’t know what to say, or how to start the conversation”. The issue is, if you never practice how to you will never figure it out or get comfortable with it. The actual fact is many are far more interested in talking to you about it than you may realize. But you never know because you never bring the topic up.
We all have spiritual gifts and foremost in every one is the ability to spread the Good News.
