The Path of Life

11 You make known to me the path of life;
    you will fill me with joy in your presence,
    with eternal pleasures at your right hand. (Psalm 16:11 ESV)

Today’s scripture is just a reminder that when we live our lives practicing God’s presence we find joy, pleasure and a right path.

These scriptures may seem really simple, but they are very potent promises God makes to us. I don’t know about you, but I have not always really seen where my life was headed. I have had times when I felt adrift on an ocean of uncertainty. However, when I centered upon God during these times I always found peace and ultimately direction.

Joy is elusive to many and I have often talked with others who could not clearly define the term. We know happiness or times of excitement, but putting joy into perspective can be hard. This is because true joy comes from a deeper place. A place where safety and security reside, and I do not know about you, but I do not find those in the world.

Lastly, life can become very two dimensional and feel hollow. It is for this reason that scripture speaks so much about eternal pleasure. We may not like the reality that eternity will either be complete pleasure or complete pain, but this is heaven and hell. We need to take this into consideration when we are making our life choices. This life is fleeting and eternity awaits.
