12 I want you to know, brothers,[a] that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, 13 so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard[b] and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. (Philippians 1:12-13 ESV)
Even in the worst circumstances we can still be Christ voice to the world. In fact, like Paul, we can choose how we respond to every circumstance in life. When we choose to allow life to beat us down, it surely will do its best.
I have written extensively over the years regarding how much our response to life is much of the battle. We like to attribute the outcomes in our life to what is being done to us. Yet, to be sure, our response to our situation creates our perception to the world around us. Furthermore, we can be sure that people are looking to see how we, as Christians, respond.
Thus, like Paul the continual opportunity to portray the faith life we live is before us every day. In fact, our faith life should be before us every day and in every instance. Our world should be filtered through the filter of Christ and our words and actions should reflect where our motivation comes from. If any of these things contradict we are not living up to the life we are meant to reflect.
All we do should serve to advance the Gospel.
