36 When he saw the crowds, he felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dejected, like sheep without a shepherd. (Matthew 9:36 CSB)
Do you ever wake up feeling distressed and dejected? I did a bit this morning. I feel like it is due to stress, but if you are like me you just have periods where you can feel less than yourself. It is easy to allow this feeling to spiral down into fears and anxieties.
But this is not what God wants for us.
When we feel distressed or dejected God is waiting for us to come to him and seek His comfort and compassion. He wishes to hear our prayers and our petitions and to come to our aid. There is nothing on this earth that can reach us unless God allows it.
Make no mistake, God’s compassion is there for you. He wishes for His sheep to come to the Shepard. To lay our cares upon Him and allow Him to work on our behalf.
So, if you woke feeling at all distresses or dejected, have hope. God is near and He is there for you to throw all your concerns upon so that He might take our load and help us to rest assured in His arms. There is no concern to small or problem too large for God. He can take our anger and our pain and turn it into joy.
I write these words to both myself and to anyone out there today feeling low. There is compassion in Christ, who knows our afflictions and our concerns as one who has lived this life too. Christ cares because he has experienced what life can be like here and more deeply feels the distress of our hearts.
He is there for you.
