Peace Comes

27 “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful. (John 14:27 CSB)

Peace may be one of the most elusive feelings we all seek. This is because we live in a fallen world. More importantly, this is because we allow our fears and our sins to run unchecked in our lives.

Jesus tells us that He gives us His peace. What is Christ peace? Well, in a nutshell, it is the assurance that His blood covered all of our sins, past, present and future. Does this mean we should go on sinning? Absolutely not! Does this mean that we can experience His peace even in the face of our greatest adversity? Absolutely, it does!

Our problem with peace is that we think we have the power to fix whatever befalls us. We think we must do this or do that to rectify our situation. And yes, we should work to correct any wrongs, but we should also leave room for God to work. When we can fix everything, where is there room for God?

Too often we think to much of ourselves and to little of God.

Peace comes when we accept our limitations and open the door for God to work miracles in our lives.
