Adequate

Such is the confidence we have through Christ before God. It is not that we are competent in[a] ourselves to claim anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God. (1 Corinthians 3:4-5 CSB)

If you are a relatively confident person I applaud you. Many do not live lives of confidence. Fear and anxiety rule the day and they go through life in a perpetual state of unsureness. This can make for a difficult life indeed.

But if you are not confident in yourself that is ok. You can be confident in God.

When our confidence is fashioned out of a faith life where we build our confidence in and through Christ, it can be nigh unshakable. For it is not that we are competent in ourselves, but our adequacy is from God.

In this we can be confident that God will provide the adequacy in what ever we do based upon His good will. And adequacy may be just that. That we are not at the pinnacle of our game does not mean that we cannot be successful.

This may not mean that everything we set ourselves to will turn out. God built in failure to the human experience to humble us. He also built it in to teach us. Many times we learn far more through failure than we do success.

But in all things, both success and failure, we can retain our competence and adequacy through Christ in God. We need not feel that we must produce it all ourselves. God will equip us.
