Step Away

32 Some were shouting one thing and some another, because the assembly was in confusion, and most of them did not know why they had come together. (Acts 19:32 CSB)

I have, for the most part, stopped watching the news. I still try to keep up with what is going on, but I just do not subject myself to the clamor of the press any longer. Much like our scripture today, it just seems like the same thing. ”Some shouting one thing and some another…and most of them did not know why….”

I know I have written often about this, but I think we have allowed ourselves to be led astray. We have our heads buried in our phones, computer screens or TV’s too much of the time. As for me, I find I am craving more and more the peace and quite of either nothing or a good old paper book (the Bible being one of my favorite).

I too think we are not getting enough outdoor time. We have become a hermetically sealed people (look it up). We need to experience the feeling of hot and cold, rain and wind. This helps us ground ourselves in both the here and now and helps keep our heads clear from the clamor around us.

We are no longer formulating our own ideas, our own direction but are simply being lead around by our noses. This may seem a harsh pronouncement of mankind, but I find it to be true. We are drinking all the social meads to the dregs and becoming drunk on the lies we are being fed.

Step away today. Take some time for yourself and see if you can clear your head of all the white noise that is being piped in there from your phone.
