Reality & Proof

1 Now faith is the reality[a] of what is hoped for, the proof[b] of what is not seen. (Hebrews 11:1 CSB)

Reality and proof are two things we seem to be having a problem with these days.

Reality is something that everyone wants to have based upon their own interpretation. And when reality is skewed, truth is skewed as well. People are outwardly denying reality and substituting their own truth.

Proof is where the reality rubber hits the road.

Today, people are even denying the proof that is right in front of them. They are choosing to deny the blatantly obvious for the personal reality they are creating. Even if that reality is utterly and completely false. And they expect everyone else to just go along with it. To accept their truth as truth.

Here in lies the rub with Christianity and the truth of scripture today. We, as Christians, are choosing to stay silent on many subjects contrary to scripture. This too is us denying the reality and proof of what is before us. It is not fixing anything. It simply seeks to show us as tolerant of what is going on in the world around us.

The world has beaten us into submission.

How do we ride some fine line of ”Christian with a world view”?

Well, scripture says we can’t. In fact it predicts and prepares us for the outcome. Friendship with Christ makes us enemies of the world. Like Christ we will be shunned and ostracized. And this is where our reality takes a severe hit.

So the hard question we have to ask ourselves is, are denying Christ reality and scriptural truth for a politically correct world view?
