Sent Off

Then after they had fasted, prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them off. (Acts 13:3 CSB)

I have a daughter and son-in-law (and now new grandson) who are on the mission field far away. My Son is in the Navy and he too is far away. So I do not get to see them very often. This was not how my wife and I expected to spend this time in our lives, family so far away.

It can be very hard, especially now that we have our first grandchild.

But we sent them off with glad hearts. They both have a mission to do and we only ask that God would bring them home safely at some point. And until that happens my wife and I try not to be selfish and desire them home sooner than God has planned.

Comfort and security I have written on often. They are two things that we seek that are not guaranteed in the Bible anywhere I can find, at least not in this world. No, it clearly states that we will have trials and tribulations in this world. But a better world awaits in eternity for the faithful.

But we can take comfort in God and know that we have security in Him as well. We can look to Him to protect our children and their families until they return. Who is to say that they are any less secure in their chosen locations than we are in ours anyhow? The world can be a dangerous place no matter where you are.
