13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go through it. 14 How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it. (Matthew 7:13-14 CSB)
When you choose a path to take, do you look for the most difficult way to get to your destination or the easiest?
When you consider your life, do you long for finding it to be a hard life or do you prefer a comfortable life.
No, we typically want the easy path, the path of least resistance. But the broad road is not always the best. We want to think it is, but there is value in struggle.
I am wearing a shirt today that my nephew gave me for Christmas that says, ”Stop Whining, Start Doing.” I get a lot of comments when I wear it, but I really like the message. It reminds me that I need to get at it.
Our Christian life is no different, in fact it is even more so because it is the narrow path. It is the path of value and standing firm and we have forgotten this. We live in a world of easy and we do not want to face hard. But like diamonds are formed under pressure, people who are best at anything do so by working through the hard way.
So today, I challenge you (as I am myself) to ask this question. Are you willing to take the narrow path….because it will make all the difference.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference. (Robert Frost)
