18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but it is the power of God to us who are being saved. (1 Corinthians 1:18 CSB)
How does Christianity differ from other religions?
- Every other religion requires we earn our way to God
- Every other religion has rules to appease their god, we have a relationship with God
- No other religion has an empty tomb
There are, of course other differences, but these three are pivotal.
Our salvation comes purely from Christ work upon the cross. His death and resurrection. Our works do not appease God. They are fruit of a faithful spirit, but not something that creates any form of worthiness. We are as dirty rags, only washed clean by Christ blood. Thus, the empty tomb we celebrate on Easter has great significance.
Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday should be a time of reflection, remembrance and renewal. Our minds set not upon the foolishness of the world but upon the holiness of our relationship with the Father, the Son and the Spirit.
Do not let these days pass like so many others.
