9 Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9 CSB)
How much do we take a scripture like this one to heart?
We may be faithful in many ways, but lack the courage to live a life without fear.
Take a moment and think about this, as I do. Having great faith should mean that we live without fear. But how often this is not the case. I have said I struggle with anxiety and I know many others who do, all good and faithful people. So why does this dichotomy exist?
The human mind is a complex place. While the heart may be 100% committed, the mind is a continual trap that can drag us into its complexities. This begins with overthinking and ends with control issues. We play this game of “what if’s” that flows into “we wants” without ever once saying to God “your will”.
How can we ever get to unafraid and courageous without first being willing to ask for God’s will?
