Pleasure in Life

35 Help me stay on the path of your commands,
for I take pleasure in it.

I took a short trip yesterday and saw some old friends. It made me wishful for days gone by and simpler times when my cares were few. I took an old path and there was pleasure in it.

As I look upon life today with all of its cares and concerns for myself, my children in their adult lives and my friends, I wonder at what we take pleasure in. It too often seems that we seek distractions from our lives for pleasure rather than seeking pleasure in our lives.

Responsibility can be burdensome and the more we have the more we are burdened with concerns over keeping what we have. It seems to be an ever increasing cycle of stacking concern upon concern.

What if we were to slow down, back up a bit and begin to focus more upon the simplicity of focusing upon God’s path alone. What might happen in our lives if that were our primary focus shifted to just taking pleasure in seeking God’s will and plan. Would our pleasure in life in general improve.

I think it would.
