Making the most of the time

Act wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer each person. (Colossians 4:5-6 CSB)

There are books that could be written about these two simple lines of scripture. But I want to focus on the latter part of the first verse.

Much like you I expect, I work hard and a lot of hours. However, while I work so hard at my job, I cannot say that I do the same for God. Because I am so busy, I often find myself focused upon everything except God.

Now before I get into what I have written about so many times before, being busy, lets focus on time. Because lets face it, we have a finite amount of it. It is the one currency in life we spend but we have no ability to make more of.

So I would ask you one burning question; What are you investing in the eternity bank?

If I were to summarize my life in my writing as it relates to eternity it would be this. My life, from a writing standpoint, is but a period. It is a small point in time, and all the rest of the words I have written in over 1500 devotionals, and those to be written, is eternity.

My hope is that I have been investing these words in eternity, even as lowly as they are. But even so, I must constantly, ask am I making the most of the rest of my time? It is only then that I can know if I am making the most of the last line of our scripture; So that I may know how I should answer each person.
