19 Blessed be the Lord!
Day after day he bears our burdens;
God is our salvation. (Psalm 68:19 CSB)
In mythology, Atlas bore the weight of the world on his shoulders. Far too often we find ourselves doing the same. We put on a brave face and bear up under the burdens in our lives.
This was not in God’s plans.
“Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden.”
We are not mean to bear our burdens alone. We may feel like we are but the single set of footprints in the sands of time behind us are not our own. They are Christ alone, while he carries us in his arms…if we will let him.
Yet, this cannot happen if we do not turn to God in prayer, seeking to gain some peace and understanding. Allowing Him to take on our burdens and relinquishing the load. Far too often, like Atlas, we continue to shoulder it ourselves.
How much easier would the day be if we turned to God and asked him to help. Relinquishing our death grip upon the fallacy of our control over this life and accepting his helping hand.
Life does not have to be a burden carried alone.
