The Good Life

21 Indeed, we are giving careful thought to do what is right, not only before the Lord but also before people. (2 Corinthians 8:21 CSB)

Most people are considerate about their lives and doing the right thing. You do not typically have to ask people to do this. I think that is one of the redeeming qualities of the human experience.

Thus, people who strive to live a “good life” in the eyes of others are not hard to find. Luckily.

However, this is by the world’s standards which, lets face it, can be pretty lackluster at best. And most people view of living a “good life” does not extend beyond themselves.

Now, this is not to say that they are totally self-centered. They will do good for others when it is convenient or when others might be watching.

When we start to look at the world through God’s eyes, there is a much deeper level of living a good life. We should be compelled to go above and beyond. To see the best in others and to live a life that is not just good but godly. One marked by a humble nature and a servants heart. A life that others do not see as good, but people experience as good. In short, they see Christ in us by how we act and treat others on a deep level.

I like this quote that I feel exemplifies a good life regarding our faith. That it should be “carried lightly but never shallowly.”

When faith is rooted deep within us, it shines forth from us.
