21 Many plans are in a person’s heart,
but the Lord’s decree will prevail. (Proverbs 19:21 CSB)

I think about all I have to do at work today and it can be daunting. I like being busy at work but it too is easy to stack work upon work until we are overwhelmed.

Some of this is simply the nature and pace of business today. We banked on the fact that technology could make things easier and speed things up, and it has. However, it too has paved the way for more and more to be done. Technology knows no speed limit, but the human mind and body do.

All of these things are plans man has. However, there is another power at work here. The Lord’s plan for humanity is working its way out too. And the Lord’s decree will prevail. Meaning, we can plan our plans and work ourselves ragged, but only those things God wishes to be fruitful will produce.

We like to think we hold the cards. We make our plans happen. But we are just players in God’s grand plan for humanity. Which, in truth, is his grand plan for each of us individually.

We may feel like the world is running the show, but this could not be further from the truth.
