3 His[a] divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called us by[b] his own glory and goodness. 4 By these he has given us very great and precious promises, so that through them you may share in the divine nature, escaping the corruption that is in the world because of evil desire. (2 Peter 1:3-4 CSB)
Do you get frustrated with God, thinking He has promised one thing but the outcome does not match what you thought He promised?
Well, if you have read many of these devotionals you will know my response. The problem lies with us and not with God. It often comes back to our flawed interpretation of scriptural promises or mixing up our feelings with God’s providence.
We get in the way more often than not. God is making so many moves on our behalf that it takes, sometimes, years to see the results of everything He has in motion.
Our flaw is expecting something partial now for the everything God has in store. We trade short term gains for long term returns.
By doing this we short-change God. Like I said, we get in the way. Our prayers fall short because they are short sighted. Pray big and let God work it all out.
Everything you need is in God’s hands, but aybe not everything you want.
Discerning the difference is the key to God’s promises.
