A Good Start

Are you so foolish? After beginning by the Spirit, are you now finishing by the flesh? (Galatians 3:3 CSB)

We often make a good start but then may tend to fade before the finish. This happens when we do not pace ourselves and either burn out early or simply can’t find the gas to finish what we started.

This is often very true in people’s faith walk. They begin in a sprint without realizing it is a marathon.

Faith and our spiritual growth take time to mature. When we make a good start we must continue on in the spirit and not try to make it about our flesh. Meaning, that every aspect of our faith walk is part of a spiritual journey. Yes, it is manifest in our flesh and what we do, but maturity comes through spiritual growth. Prayer and study of the scriptures are both paramount here.

When we try to do this with earthly knowledge and efforts we will often make a great start but then fade.

Making a good start is great, but in the end it is about looking into God’s eyes and having Him say, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
