East from the West

9 If I fly on the wings of the dawn
and settle down on the western horizon,[a]
10 even there your hand will lead me;
your right hand will hold on to me. (Psalm 139:9-10 CSB)

It is great to see the pictures and hear the stories of people who have made long motorcycle trips. Whether it was a cross country trip or one that took someone around the globe, they are all fascinating.

I have not had the time nor money to take such a monumental trip. But one thing I know is that no matter where we go, God is there.

Our scripture today basically reads, “no matter where I go, to the further reaches of the world and beyond, my God is there and his hand is upon me.”

This should be a comforting thought. However, some times we wish to hide from God. Maybe we have done something or we want to do something that is against His will. Like Jonah, we want to hide from God We want to find a rock to craw under to hide from His possible wrath.

But God does not work this way. No, even when we have done wrong He is there to forgive and lift us up from the miry clay. We do not have to fear the quicksand of our lives drawing us down. If we will but turn to Him, raise our hands in supplication and ask for forgiveness.

He is righteous to remove our sins as far as the east is from the west.
