Lured Away

But about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God said, ‘You must not eat it or touch it, or you will die.’”

“No! You will certainly not die,” the serpent said to the woman. “In fact, God knows that when[a] you eat it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:3-5 CSB)

Our enemy, satan, the devil, is the father of lies. Too many do not want to believe that he exist. He exist in that netherworld beyond our perception and thus, seems the thing of legend and folklore.

But the Bible could not be more clear about his existence and his desire to thwart God’s plans in our lives.

The Bible says that he “prowls around like a roaring lion, waiting to kill, steal and destroy.”

He wants nothing more than our destruction and his name translates to accuser. So you can bet he is accusing us to God. Just look at the book of Job to understand this.

His key ploy is the temptations of this world and our pride. Since the beginning with Adam and Eve he has worked his plan to distract and tempt us. And he works every day in this world to lure us away from our Love of God and His plans for us.

We must not allow ourselves to be lured away to fulfill the enemy’s plan of temptation. We must not listen to his flattering words and easy path, but choose the path less taken that leads to God’s plan for us.
