Portion

5 Lord, you are my portion[a]
and my cup of blessing;
you hold my future. (Psalm 16:5 CSB)

What is our portion?

We, of course, want it to be a lot. But sometimes it is only a little. However, if it is from God we can be assured that it is enough.

But what is enough today? Seemingly nothing.

In a society of more, more, more, anything less is looked at as scarcity.

The reality is, for most of us, that we live in opulent abundance. God meets our every need, but we are consumed with our wants.

We do not want to look at life like we are being given our portion. We want it all. We want opulent abundance.

One is none and two is one. Really think about that for a moment.

When we view what we have as our cup of blessing, our portion and we accept that God has our future in His hands a few things happen. We want less and as such are not eaten up with greed or jealousy about what we think we should have. Second, we begin to live life differently, we begin to see life as not a reason to have more but a reason to live for more.

Consider your portion today.
