¹⁹ We know that we are of God, and the whole world is under the sway of the evil one. (1 John 5:19 CSB)

There are two pivotal aspects of today’s scripture: We are of God and the world is of the evil one.

You really do not have to look very far to see evil in this world. Hopefully, you also do not have to look that far to find a brother or sister in Christ either.

We need to work to surround ourselves with those who are of God. This, so we can build up the spiritual strength to go out into a world where we can be salt and light. Because we are meant to be a light unto this world and not sit within our homes or churches and not spread the good news.

Now, this aspect of the Christian life may not be comfortable to you. The idea of speaking to others about Christ should fill you with joy not fear. Then make sure that others can see Christ in your actions. Soon enough they will come to you because of the light they see within.

This is how others can tell that we are of God. Through our words and deeds. Let them have no cause to think differently. This is how they know we are not of this world.
