10 A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance. (John 10:10 CSB)
None of us like to be robbed. We do not like the loss, we do not like the invasion of our privacy, we do not like the feeling of helplessness. Yet we allow it almost daily.
Our enemy prowls around like a thief all day and night, every day. He wants to steal our happiness, our joy, our peace and our relationship with God.
And we allow this more than we realize.
We allow it in our anger, we allow it in our pride, we allow it in our vises, we allow it in our minds and in our eyes. In little, and sometimes big, ways we allow the enemy to steal our peace and our connection to God in our very actions.
Many times our sins become an addictive behavior. We allow ourselves to become comfortable in “how we are” and expect that this is just the way it is. However, this limited life is not what Christ came for. No, He came to give us life and to have it in abundance.
Too often we live in a life of lack and want and do not strive for the higher level Christ gave His life for us to be able to live. Life lived “the way it is” is not the life lived “the way it could be”
