Body & Spirit

21 He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of his glorious body, by the power that enables him to subject everything to himself. (Philippians 3:21 CSB)

I run across far more people who are disappointed with their bodies than those who are happy with them.

I get it, I need to shed my 2020-20 as well. But I am not unhappy with my body. It is what God gave me and I do with it the best I can. Well, ok that is not true. I do with it as I can. If I were doing the best I can I would not have gained that Covid 20.

The scriptures connects our spirit and our body. As even in heaven we will have transformed bodies. Thus, God made us to be body and spirit.

It is only when Paul speaks of the flesh, where his is talking about the weakness of our fleshly state, that we see negativity connected with the body. And to be sure, this is not what Paul meant. He was talking about our fleshly weakness, our sinful self, not actually our body. The “flesh” is human weakness to sin.

Thus, we should celebrate our body and spirit and learn to live in harmony with both.
