Do Your Job

43 Blessed is that servant whom the master finds doing his job when he comes. (Luke 12:43 CSB)

We often limit the scope of our view of the job we have to the career we have chosen. This is our profession, but we have many other jobs as well.

We have the job of our family, being a son or daughter to our parents and possibly, ultimately, becoming their parent/care giver once they are old. We too may have the family job of spouse or parent. We have the job of friend and maybe the job of mentor or being mentored.

All of these jobs, coupled with our profession may feel overwhelming.

But lets add one more job we all have, which should become our vocation. That is job of discipleship. We have been given the Great Commission to go out and tell others about Jesus. This is a job that often gets shoved back behind all of our other jobs. However, our vocation should be woven into our daily life and as such also be part of all our other jobs.

You see, we should not do any of our other jobs without engaging our primary job which is to do everything as if for Christ. When we do this and we weave our vocation into our occupation and every other activity or job we have that we begin to truly fulfill our faith role.

So, go do your job today.
