Something from Nothing

26 Brothers and sisters, consider your calling: Not many were wise from a human perspective,[a] not many powerful, not many of noble birth. 27 Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong. 28 God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world—what is viewed as nothing—to bring to nothing what is viewed as something, (1 Corinthians 1:26-28 CSB)

If you have been reading these devotionals for any length of time you will know that my words are simple. I take from what the scriptures give and ask God for a word that may touch another. That is all.

God takes and makes something from my nothing daily. None of it is me.

In fact, many years ago, I thought I had nothing to give to God, nothing to offer. I was without spiritual gifts.

But God can always make something from nothing. He challenged my thinking and impressed upon me a number of areas He had made for me to serve. He showed me how He could take my nothing and make it into something.

I am not a man of eloquent speech, but he filled my head with thoughts and words.

I am a bit of a big lumbering giant who He made, and continues to make, gentle and humble (though my nature would fight Him every step of the way).

He took my crass and debased mind and turned it into a deeply thoughtful and reflective place where I retreat reguarly, to be with Him and consider His words and plan.

He still has much left to do with me. The remainder of my life i suspect. But He has shown me that the can make something from nothing.
