24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24 CSB)
I want to talk about true worship here but I feel compelled to speak about life first.
We have lost this fundamental desire to do things in spirit and truth, even before we get to worship (which is much more important).
We live in a country where actions are not being driven out of a right spirit or based on truth. It has become more important to manipulate or to seek a bottom line result. Rarely do we speak or act where spirit and truth are in line. We are focused too much on the phrase “at the end of the day” as if an outcome were more important the the reason for the action.
This is a sad, sad state.
When we then take this idea to our worship we find it difficult to worship in spirit and in truth. What even does that mean?
Well, when we worship in spirit, worship is an experience not simply an action. It is not something we do but something we experience emotionally. It may drive us to tears of remorse over our sins or tears of joy over God’s grace. But it is not simply reading words and singing songs.
When we do so in truth, we are tying our worship back to the Word. We know that our worship is driven from the truth of scripture and is backed by the same.
We need a true awakening (not Woke) in this country. A spiritual awakening in spirit and truth!
