61 Then the Lord turned and looked at Peter. So Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.” 62 And he went outside and wept bitterly. (Luke 22:61-62 CSB)
We may not be verbally denying Christ, but how might our actions be doing just that?
If we have repetitive sin in our lives, it is a form of denial. We are choosing to allow this sin to exist in contrast to our life in Christ.
When we examine our lives closely, do we see parts of how we live that we are holding out from Christ? That we are justifying in some way?
Luckily, we can come to the cross and confess these sins and ask God to give us strength over them. Asking that he keep our wrongs ever before us so that we migh never slip back into willful sin.
We can connect quickly with Peter in this way, and should weep bitterly for our denial and turn from our ways.
Lord, let not the rooster crow thrice before we change our ways.
