“As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, Rabbi who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind? Neither this man nor his parent sinned, said Jesus, but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.” (John 8:1-3)
Our sensibilities and our desires for what we feel is right does not always line up with God’s plan. Sometimes bad things happen to highlight God’s glory. In our finite eyes we cannot always see or perceive an infinite God and what works to his glory.
A close friend is dealing with a very difficult situation that no one would have wanted to see play out. Yet, he has shown God’s greatness and glory through the events. I dare say he and his entire family are much closer to God than ever.
Our lives are meant to be an outward manifestation of the God we serve and his glory. If we are not living our highest potential God may make a shift that is uncomfortable to us to display his greatness.
We must learn to look at our lives as what they are, finite, so that we might accept what comes our way in light of the infinite.
