A Cleansing

1 Be gracious to me, God,
according to your faithful love;
according to your abundant compassion,
blot out my rebellion.
2 Completely wash away my guilt
and cleanse me from my sin. (Psalm 51:1-2 CSB)

We know that through Christ sacrifice all of our transgressions were atoned for. His blood, shed on the cross, paid the ultimate price so that we may be forgiven of past, current and future sins.

This does not mean that we do not need, at times, to sit at the feet of Christ and thank him for his abundant compassion and love. To look at our guilt and rebellion even in a state of grace.

We are in need of his love and compassion to once again wash away that which we did yesterday or today. Sin still exist and we need a constant purification by accepting and atoning for our fallen state.

Thus we come before God with a contrite and humble heart, peaceful in his forgiveness.
