A Broken Spirit

17 The sacrifice pleasing to God is[a] a broken spirit.
You will not despise a broken and humbled heart, God. (Psalm 51:17 CSB)

At times we must come before God with a broken spirit. One that has realized that we, alone, are never going to be enough. We are lost and without hope alone. But a broken and humble heart God recognizes and will never turn away from.

This first supposes that we have come to a place where we have realized that in our own power we are grossly incapable. We are too weak within us to overcome our fears, doubts and sins. That only through God can we hope to have either salvation or renewal of our spirit.

Thus we find that a broken spirit is a pleasing sacrifice to God. With this he can begin to renew us, we are maluable and ready to be made into a new image. An image of God.
