8 In my experience, those who plow injustice
and those who sow trouble reap the same. (Job 4:8 CSB)
You have probably heard this scripture repeated as “you reap what you sow.” In other words, our conquenses are derived from what we do.
Yet, we live in a world where it seems that people get away with every type of wrong. So much so that we can find ourselves looking at another who benefits from doing something wrong and feel frustrated that we are not getting ahead by doing right.
But all things come in due season. Just like the origin of this scripture it harkens back to a time when the world was seen through agucultural eyes. Things happened in season. You sow a field, the seeds germinate, the crop grows and if all the factors are correct you reap. Thus, if you sow sparingly you reap sparingly and vice-versa.
We must look at the world differently now. Our sowing and reaping come more from the choices we make and our motives. Especially with people of faith, where we know we are supposed to have a reason for what we do that is greater than this world.
In all things we must look to what and how we sow so that we may reap the rewards scripture speaks of.
