Forgiveness

20 You planned evil against me; God planned it for good to bring about the present result—the survival of many people. 21 Therefore don’t be afraid. I will take care of you and your children.” And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.[a] (Genesis 50:20-21 CSB)

It is not always easy to forgive. Many wrongs hurt us deeply and we lose faith in others. We can harbor ill feelings and let them grow within us to the point where the wrong of another consumes us from the inside out.

When we forgive we are in some small measure doing for others what God did for us in huge measure. He sent his son to die on a cross to forgive all of our sins. To forgive every wrong we have or will do. He proved His love is absolute.

However, we are not God. We are frail humans who are often eaten up inside with our own fears and frustrations. Thus when wronged we feel justified in our anger. But in the end who is it hurting the most…us or the one who wronged us?
