Nevertheless

42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” (Luke 22:42 NKJV)

Even Christ prayed that God the Father would take away the cup He was prepared to drink from. A cup filled not only with death but with every sin anyone would ever commit. But He was obedient to the Father and said, “nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done”.

We do not always understand why God takes us through trials and tribulations, but make no mistake He will see us through them. They may be caused by something we have done or something that He allowed to happen, but always for our best outcome. It can be very hard to see that through the pain of a situation.

Nevertheless, we need to be open to God’s will being done and not simply look to what we think is our best outcome.

Reflect on: Your ability to say, nevertheless, not my will, but Yours, be done.
