Balance

4 He who observes the wind will not sow,
And he who regards the clouds will not reap. (Ecclesiastes 11:4 NKJV)

It is easy in our hectic world to want to find time to simply sit back and relax a bit, and there is nothing wrong with that. However, it cannot be all we do. Furthermore, a good life lived is not one lived upon unfulfilled dreams and hopes. We need to go after our lives and not just let them happen.

I believe that there are three forms of life we live; the life we dream of, the life we lead and the life that leads us. We typically begin life striving for the life we dream of but the realities of responsibility can take even the best of that life and grind it down. Thus, we begin living the life we lead, the one where responsibilities rule and we soon find we are living the life that leads us.

It is hard, supremely hard, to live the life we dream of without working hard to achieve it and when we get there it can seem that it was not what we expected at all. There is a balance we strike between hopes, dreams and reality. But in striking that balance we must make space to keep physical, mental and spiritual in balance.

Reflect on: The life you are leading, what phase you are in, is there a balance.
