9 A man’s heart plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps. (Proverbs 16:9 NKJV)
Being “of an age” I can more clearly see the paths of my life. Those times when I ran forward headlong doing life my way, and those times when God readjusted my plan and my path. Free will is not exactly all it is cracked up to be. It typically means us making bad decisions and God redirecting our steps back into His perfect way when we finally submit to Him.
Trust me when I say, God’s way is best.
The right way has us in lock step with God. Listening to the Spirt and keeping our eyes upon the Son. The world, and the enemy, will continually try to show us a shinier way. One that sparkles with potential but makes us compromise some part of our walk with God. This can be as simple as keeping us so distracted with work that we cannot even see God. I have experienced this many times. Especially working in a field where the clock does not really exist.
Reflect on: The path you are on. Is it in lock step with God, directed by the Spirit and following after the Son?
