16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. (Romans 12:16 NKJV)
In meditating on today’s scripture I begin to wonder about a world where people were of the same mind, humble and not opinionated. By our human standards I expect we would think that this would be a pretty dull world indeed. It is not that living out a scriptural standard makes us dull, but that we expect a dynamic world where people are continually debating … well, everything.
I think what we can miss in looking at a world like this is just how peaceful it would be. We could come together and set our minds upon higher endeavors and with complete cooperation truly progress forward in unity. Harmony could lead us to even greater and greater invention and a world that saw progress as a joint solution to our problems. But alas, getting great minds to harmonize in this world would be quite a stretch from where we are today.
Reflect on: How being humble and in harmony with those around you might make us all better.
