5 As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb[a] of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything. (Ecclesiastes 11:5 ESV)
Even with our many advancements, there is still so much we do not understand. We know more about space than we do our oceans. We know so much about the human body, but there is much that doctors do not understand. We are just beginning to unveil some scientific realities that create more questions than they answer. The reality is that the world that God made is more simple and more complex than the human mind can comprehend.
But these mysteries are exactly what God created to continue to keep us humble. We are not meant to know everything. Even the simple command to not eat of the fruit of good and evil in the Garden of Eden we could not obey because we wanted to know more. The desire to seek new understanding is not necessarily a bad thing, until it is used in a bad way. The more we seek to know, it seems the less we seek God.
Reflect on: The vast knowledge you possess today and how even two generations ago we know so much more. Is that bringing you closer to or further away from God?
