8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool[a] of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. (Genesis 3:8 ESV)
Do we find ourselves hiding from God? Have we done something that we know is wrong and instead of confronting it, we hide ourselves away and try to forgot we did wrong?
There are no levels of sin in God’s eyes. Sin is sin, small to large, and it is only we who give size to sin’s meaning. So while we may simply bypass what we consider the little sins in our lives, we may want to hide from the bigger sins. Consequences are different. In this world they are variable and the reality of any levels given to sin in our lives is really based on the potential consequences.
This is why, I think, we try to hide what we consider the bigger sins in our lives. We do not look at them as all the same. We blithely gloss over what we consider the small sins of how we think, feel or talk and hide from what we consider more impactful sin.
Reflect on: There is no hiding. God is everywhere and through the Spirit in or lives as believers so intimately as to separate bone for marrow.
