When we watch others seemingly endless struggle or we ourselves have times where we struggle it can be disheartening. We can begin to wonder, “where is God”? But we must remember, His plans are not our plans and His ways are not our ways.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9 ESV)
The true question we need to answer in times like these, are do we trust that God really has our backs, does He really watch out for our best?
11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare[a] and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11 ESV)
The problem with these questions is that we are questioning God. This can be a dangerous and slippery slope. Once we begin to slide down it we can find ourselves deeply in a valley of distress and questioning everything in life. It is an easy place to go, this spiral downward. The enemy will feed our doubts and fears and it will come to seem that the whole world is out to get us.
It is here where we must dig deeper into scripture and rely wholly upon God, even if everything we experience seems to be contrary.
