Pursuits

10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

11 But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. (1 Timothy 6:10-11 ESV)

There are so very many different pursuits this life offers us. There is literally nothing under the sun that we cannot pursue. From career variations, to relationships, to hobbies and even becoming entrepreneurs. Yes, this world offers a lot. However, not all of these things are beneficial to us.

Scripture tells us over and over agin that to pursue God, we must pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness and gentleness. We can find many verses that touch one one or all of these attributes. Yet, the world tells us to just do what feels good and what boost our pride. To indulge our passions and to live with abandon. I do not find these last things in the scriptures.

No, God desires that we pursue a steadfast life, controlled in all of our actions and reactions. God desires that we look ever toward Him so that the life we lead is one that makes Him proud and shines His light upon others.
