Not Troubled

1 Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God;[a] believe also in me. (John 14:1 ESV)

It is common to let many things trouble us. We get so wrapped up in the business of our lives that we lose sight of the peace God desires for us.

Today, our scripture points to the fact that when we remain focused upon Christ our Savior, God our Father, and the Holy Spirit our Helper we can release our troubled focus on the world around us. Yes, this can take a supreme effort to wrest our continual focus upon our own selfishness and concerns over ourself. It means that we take our eye off the ball for a moment to focus upon something bigger. We stop staring at our problems and lift our eyes to God who is has providence over all.

God is asking that we loose our death grip on that which we may have little control over. We begin to consider the long game that He desires us to play, and not alone, with Him. When we do we will find that our hearts are less troubled, our mountains and our giants are far smaller than we imagined and we begin to relax. We find we are no longer in the grip of our enemy who wishes nothing more than a troubled heart within us.

Let not your hearts be troubled.
