We are not Greater

14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. 16 Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant[a] is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. (John 13:14-16 ESV)

Do you sometimes think you know best?

Do you want to be the master of the course you set?

Do you sometimes try to instruct God?

We all do this at times. We either think we have the right of it over our life or we feel so strongly about our path that it must be God’s leading. Really, in these times we are listening to our ego and not our Father.

We are not greater than the one who made us. We need to keep this firmly in mind as we go about our lives. We need to lead lives that honor the Father and reflect Christ love. A life that is indicative of the Spirit that lives within.

If we recklessly try to take life in our own hands too much, God will give us rein and let us go …. Until we need to return like the prodigal.
