Consecrated Eyes

12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12 ESV)

This scripture points toward the fact that our spiritual struggles are not typically against other people. No, our struggles are within ourselves and without against the enemy. Also, it is clear that the enemy is a cosmic power in the present darkness we live in on this earth.

Make no mistake, there is a war raging unseen around us all the time. The question is who we are siding with on a moment by moment basis.

I believe that our enemy’s job has been made easier with the advent of the internet and social media. What he cannot tempt us with, available at a moments notice on the internet, he will throw in our faces through social media. We are no longer a people who he has to work that hard to get at with temptations to make go astray.

Thus, we must be even more vigilant about what we consume and how we consume it. Our eyes and our minds are the gateway to our soul. To keep the soul pure, we must consecrate the eyes more than anything else so we keep our consumption pure so our minds are not led astray.
