The Sacrifice

17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.” (John 10:17-18 ESV)

As we take time today to remember those who have sacrificed so much, we must look too to the one that sacrificed everything for us. Many, over the years, have laid down their lives to support this country and its people. This can never be forgotten. America’s history is written in the blood of those who served and laid down their lives to protect our rights and way of life. This makes today very special, a day made to remember those who paid the ultimate price.

God sent His son Jesus Christ to pay the ultimate price. Our salvation is written in the blood of Christ and His nail scared hands. We are literally written upon our Lord, but he did all of this willingly to provide a single atonement for all mankind. He laid down His life willingly and then took it up again at the resurrection. He was given all authority at that time from His Father.

Thus, take a moment today and thank Jesus for His sacrifice as we thank those who have also sacrificed for us.
