Watchful

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8 ESV)

We are called today to be watchful. Our enemy is always seeking our destruction. He is the father of lies and wants nothing less from us than everything. But be of strong heart, Christ has overcome the devil and the world and will one day return for us.

Wednesday (Matthew 24:1-36, Mark 13:1-37, Luke 21:5-36): Jesus speaks about the destruction of the temple and the signs of his coming, emphasizing the importance of being watchful.

Christ could return at any moment, or it could be a thousand years from now. No man knows the time nor the day. Many have prophesied as if they do, but they did not. Thus, we must be ever watchful and in doing so be watchful over our lives and what we do and say.

Reflect on: Are you being watchful for Christ? Do you live your life ever mindful that Christ could return?
