16 Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are continually before me. (Isaiah 49:16 ESV)
Do you ever wonder where God is in your life? Maybe times are hard or maybe you are just looking for a fresh touch from our savior. In any case, we humans go through periods where we feel far from God, alone and maybe even a bit abandoned or forgotten.
But on the cross, Jesus engraved you and I on His palms. We are not something that he forgets. Think about his nail scared hands, where the spike went completely through. No matter if his hands are face up or face down the scar, our scar, is visible to Him. I can envision that He kept those scars not that He needed anything to remember us, but so there was proof of His love for us written there.
Consider the second part of our scripture, “your walls are continually before Me.” God sees everything that surrounds us in this life. He is never shocked by where we are, what we are doing or what is happening. He is ever mindful of all of our circumstances. He is simply looking for us to accept that His movement on our behalf is something we come to trust. Not because we see Him, but because we accept that He is always there, looking out for us.
We are never forgotten.
